How Firmware Updates Drive The Market Forward?

Have you seen movies from the first half of the 1900s? Have you seen how different cars look back then? Compared with today’s cars, it looks like they were invented in the stone age. Technology made this progress seem like it’s out of this world. And today, cars don’t even run on gas anymore. They run on electricity and a top of the line firmware made especially for them. See about the evolution of cars here.

This story about the cars, and we’re not talking about the Pixar movie, can be applied in every field you can think of. Vacuum cleaners, television, every possible industry that creates products, everything is driven by embedded software that makes things great today.

People used to wash by hand. Leaned on the river rubbing their clothes to rock. Today, washing machines are controlled through Wi-Fi and you can turn them on and off while you’re at work watching how it works on a monitoring device placed in the room. Future is now, right?

When you get those clothes from the river and they are all dry from the sun that you waited for 3 days because of the rain, you need to iron them. You used to do it with a heavy iron made of – iron. Today, you have plastic made devices with a steel bottom all filled with buttons that control temperature, moisture, and all sorts of other stuff. Ironing kept the word usage but transformed because of the help from firmware.

Running a company means always be ahead of the competition or at least keep track of what they do and react accordingly. You can’t be competitive if the TV you produced back in 1965 is still selling in your store. You must update that black and white screen. TV sets today are made of state of the art resolution screens backed by the most sophisticated technologies in producing the picture. They are connected to the internet and all resemble more to a computer than a TV box on which sports games are being watched.

What must be done in order to keep your business updated?

As you can see, technology is involved in every part of our lives, but you already know that, right? What you must do is find a way how to make your products more technologically advanced and appealing for the common person.

Even if you produce something that is not technologically dependent you can still update the manufacturing process by implementing firmware that your workers and machines will have benefit from.

For example, let’s say you’re into the production of potato chips. Your product is known locally, but you want to grow globally. Now, potato chips are potato chips, you can’t make an app for it. Or do you? It’s an open field for brainstorming, who knows what we can come up with. What we can surely conclude is that you can make your product more appealing and production more affordable.

You can do this …
